Jacky Goliath began her horticultural journey in 2001 with a small backyard garden, cultivating only 1,000 plants across three varieties. From these humble beginnings, she has transformed her passion into De Fynne Nursery, a 202-hectare farm in Paarl, Western Cape, producing over 600,000 plants annually. Under her leadership, the nursery grows a wide range of Fynbos species including Protea, Leucospermum, Leucadendron, Erica, and Buchu, alongside fruit trees, research material, and various crops.

Jacky’s vision and dedication to excellence led De Fynne Nursery to partner with Woolworths in 2008, supplying Fynbos plants as part of the retailer’s enterprise development initiative. Over the years, she has expanded the nursery’s offerings to include Spekboom, figs, lemons, blueberries, and lavender, ensuring a diverse and reliable supply. The nursery also participates in Woolworths’ Farming for the Future programme, which focuses on systematic and sustainable farming practices.

As a 100% black-owned business, Jacky has prioritized both growth and community impact. Since joining the Woolies Enterprise and Supplier Development programme in 2013, she has built a dedicated team of 40 staff, supporting 130 community members. Under her guidance, the nursery achieves an impressive production output of 600,000 plants per year with a 99.5% order fill rate.

Jacky has also expanded the nursery’s client base beyond Woolworths. De Fynne Nursery now supplies leading South African retailers and garden centers, including Builders Warehouse, Cape Garden Centre, Pick n Pay, Paarl Nursery, and others. Through these partnerships, Jacky ensures that high-quality Fynbos, fruit trees, and ornamental plants reach a wide audience across the country.
Her strategic vision places De Fynne Nursery at the intersection of the Western Cape’s vineyards and its unique Fynbos biodiversity. She has established the nursery as a trusted supplier to retailers, wholesalers, research institutions, commercial farms, wine estates, and landscapers. To further expand her agricultural reach, she has recently begun cultivating and exporting plums, combining horticultural expertise with commercial growth.
Through Jacky Goliath’s leadership, De Fynne Nursery has become more than a farm—it is a model of innovation, sustainability, and excellence in both Fynbos and agricultural crop production. Her passion, knowledge, and commitment ensure that every plant grown meets the highest standards.
Fynbos is a unique vegetation type found only in a small belt of the Western Cape, with over 9,000 species, 6,200 of which are endemic. For anyone seeking expert cultivation of Fynbos or agricultural crops, Jacky Goliath’s De Fynne Nursery offers unmatched expertise, quality, and reliability.
