North West MEC Madoda Sambatha Launches 2025/26 Provincial Planting Season in Tswaing

North West MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, Madoda Sambatha, officially launched the 2025/26 Provincial Planting Season yesterday at Tswaing Local Municipality. The event marks the start of the summer cropping season and highlights the province’s commitment to sustainable and profitable grain production.

Farmers, agricultural stakeholders, and partners from across the province attended the launch to engage in discussions on modern farming practices and to strengthen collaboration across the agricultural sector. MEC Sambatha emphasized the importance of preparing for the season with proper planning, mechanization, and efficient input use to maximize yields and profitability.

A key feature of the launch was a planter and spray calibration demonstration. Experts showcased techniques to ensure accurate seed placement and effective application of agrochemicals. This demonstration aimed to improve planting precision, reduce wastage, and promote environmentally responsible farming practices.

MEC Sambatha encouraged farmers to adopt these mechanization methods, highlighting that correct calibration and equipment use can significantly increase productivity and lower input costs. He also called on agricultural stakeholders to continue supporting smallholder and commercial farmers through training, advisory services, and access to modern technologies.
