The North West Department of Agriculture and Rural Development conducted the Thuntsha Lerole Programme in Tswaing Local Municipality, delivering services focused on livestock health, agricultural education, and household nutrition.

The programme began in Jachskraal Village, where the Veterinary Services team administered rabies vaccinations to livestock. The team provided demonstrations on proper livestock handling and management using a newly constructed handling facility, giving farmers practical guidance on herd health, disease prevention, and safe animal handling practices.

The programme continued at Tshwaraganang Early Learning Centre, where Extension Officers led a detailed planting demonstration. The session included soil preparation, seed planting techniques, and maintenance of vegetable gardens. To support these activities, the Department donated wheelbarrows, hoses, seeds, seedlings, and other essential tools, allowing the centre to expand its vegetable garden and increase local food production.

Additionally, the Department distributed eggs to selected households to improve nutrition and support food security within the municipality.

The Thuntsha Lerole Programme combined livestock vaccination, practical agricultural training, and resource distribution. The initiative strengthened livestock health, improved community capacity for food production, and enhanced household nutrition, demonstrating a coordinated approach to rural development in the North West Province.
