IDC and Agri X Launch Fusion Meat Value Chain Series to Support South African Farmers

The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) has partnered with Agri X to launch the Fusion Meat Value Chain series, an initiative aimed at supporting South African farmers and strengthening the red meat sector. The series is designed to connect farmers, industry experts, and academic researchers to share practical knowledge, address production challenges, and identify opportunities for growth across the agricultural value chain.

The first event will take place from 4-5 March 2026 and will bring together farmers, processors, and other value-chain partners. Discussions will focus on practical solutions for challenges affecting the red meat sector, including improving livestock production, managing feed and nutrition, accessing local and international markets, and adopting sustainable farming practices. Farmers attending the event will gain hands-on insights from experts and learn strategies to increase productivity, reduce losses, and improve profitability.

Lwandiso Makupula, IDC Head of Agro-Processing and Agriculture, emphasised the farmer-focused benefits of the initiative: “Our work with Agri X exemplifies the strategic collaborations we pursue to help the industry solve problems and unlock investment opportunities that drive growth within the agriculture sector.” By linking farmers with researchers and industry leaders, the event aims to translate high-level discussions into actionable practices that benefit producers directly.
