The Portfolio Committee on Land Reform and Rural Development continued its oversight work in Limpopo yesterday with visits to Marobala o Itsose CPA and Mashemong A Molemole farm. The visits assessed progress under the CPA Support and Land Development Support (LDS) programmes. This activity is part of the Committee’s province-wide oversight visit taking place from 17 to 21 November 2025, aimed at evaluating the impact and implementation of land reform and rural development initiatives.

During the visits, Committee members engaged directly with beneficiaries and local stakeholders. Discussions focused on how the LDS programme is strengthening production capacity, improving governance structures, and supporting long-term community development. Participants shared successes, including increased crop yields and more structured farm management, as well as ongoing challenges such as limited access to finance and technical support.

These engagements follow earlier interactions with Bjatladi CPA at the Zebediela Citrus Estate, providing a broader picture of land reform progress in Limpopo. The combined insights highlight both the achievements of the programmes and the obstacles communities face in translating land access into sustainable livelihoods.

Feedback gathered during the visits will guide stronger collaboration between national and provincial authorities. Committee members emphasized the importance of continuous oversight to ensure beneficiaries receive the support needed to make land reform meaningful. Officials noted that follow-up actions will focus on providing technical training, governance support, and improved access to resources.

The oversight visit underscores the Committee’s commitment to ensuring that land reform and rural development initiatives deliver tangible, long-term benefits for rural communities in Limpopo. By tracking progress on the ground, the Committee aims to strengthen accountability and ensure programmes achieve their intended outcomes.
