The initiative aims to empower young people to play a central role in shaping the country’s agrifood systems.

The forum operates under the theme, “Amplifying youth voices for prosperity in the agrifood systems.” Young farmers and innovators have gathered to share ideas, explore solutions, and actively participate in discussions on food security. The platform encourages youth to engage directly in shaping national policy, advancing sustainable agriculture, and addressing pressing challenges in food production and distribution.

Participants are invited to contribute innovative solutions that can strengthen local communities. From technological advancements to new farming practices, the forum emphasizes the potential of youth-led initiatives to improve productivity, enhance nutrition, and increase resilience in South Africa’s agrifood systems.

Officials from the National Department of Agriculture and FAO highlighted the importance of including youth perspectives in decision-making processes. By creating opportunities for young people to lead, the initiative aims to transform how South Africa grows, shares, and sustains food.

The World Food Forum, South African Youth Chapter, marks a significant step toward a more inclusive and forward-looking agricultural sector. Through collaboration, innovation, and active participation, young people are positioned to shape the future of food security and drive sustainable growth across the country.
