MEC for Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Land Reform and Rural Development, Mase Manopole, led a multi-site outreach in Douglas, supported by Siyancuma Municipality Executive Mayor, Cllr. Patrick McKlein. The programme targeted schools, early childhood centres, and the community, focusing on sustainable farming, food security, and animal health.
Weslaan High School received tree planting opportunities, food garden starter packs, and sanitary towel donations for girls. Douglas Primary School participated in tree planting and received food garden starter packs. Arthruders Kleuterskool and Outreach Kleuterskool ECD Centres also received tree planting and food garden support to encourage early engagement in agriculture.
Veterinary Services provided animal health support at Breipal Soccer Field, vaccinating 92 dogs and 13 cats and assisting 74 owners.
The outreach forms part of the Department’s 1 Million Tree Planting Campaign, strengthening sustainable agriculture, community food production, and responsible livestock and pet management in the region.
