The Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in Sekhukhune District hosted a Tomato Information Day at the Sekhukhune East Agro-Ecological Zone in Tjatane Village. The event aimed to provide farmers with practical knowledge on tomato production, cultivar selection, pest control, fertilizer application, disaster risk reduction, and market access.

Key stakeholders, including SAKATA, WD Seedling, Janwerm, and the Agricultural Research Council, participated in the session to share expertise and support local growers. Farmers from neighbouring villages such as Mohlaletse, Manganeng, Maila Segolo, Leboweng, and Phiring attended, making it a district-wide engagement.

The session also focused on climate change mitigation, equipping farmers with strategies to manage its impact on crop production. Discussions included practical approaches to reduce risks and enhance resilience in tomato farming.

The information day concluded with field visits to Mashilos Cooperative and Mathibe Agricultural Cooperative. Farmers observed practical demonstrations on production techniques, pest management, and sustainable farming practices.

The event provided a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration, helping Sekhukhune tomato growers improve productivity, access markets, and implement sustainable farming practices.
