The Eastern Cape Department of Agriculture hosted a successful agricultural show today in Komani, Chris Hani District. This follows two earlier shows in the Amathole and OR Tambo Districts. MEC Nonceba Kontsiwe expressed her satisfaction with the growing momentum of the revived agricultural shows.
“These shows are a demonstration of the tireless work of our farmers. I am pleased to say the shows’ revival has gained momentum and farmers are excited to show their production strength,” said MEC Kontsiwe.
The agricultural shows provide farmers with a platform to showcase their produce, livestock, and other agricultural achievements. Beyond display, the events serve as an important information-sharing forum. Farmers gain access to new knowledge, support programs, and market opportunities.
Participants benefit from interactions with experts, fellow farmers, and industry representatives. This exchange helps farmers improve production practices, adopt innovative technologies, and expand their reach in local and regional markets.
The Eastern Cape Department of Agriculture sees these shows as a vital tool for promoting agricultural growth. By combining celebration, education, and networking, the shows strengthen the province’s farming sector and contribute to sustainable livelihoods.
Farmers left Komani encouraged and motivated, highlighting the importance of continued support and collaboration to maintain momentum in the province’s agricultural development.
