The Aquaculture Research Unit (ARU) at the University of Limpopo, in partnership with the Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (LDARD), will host an Aquaculture Farmers’ Workshop on 14 October 2025. The event will run from 09:00 to 15:00 at the ARU Boardroom, University of Limpopo.
The workshop, themed “Unlocking the Potential of Aquaculture in Limpopo Province,” will bring together farmers, researchers, and government stakeholders to promote sustainable aquaculture practices. It aims to link academic research with the practical challenges faced by aquaculture farmers across the province.
Participants will have the opportunity to share daily operational challenges and propose collaborative solutions. The event will feature representatives from the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Environment, the Department of Water and Sanitation, LIMA, LDARD, and the Local Economic Development and Tourism (LEDET).
The workshop is designed to:
• Establish a direct communication platform between farmers and key stakeholders.
• Provide access to valuable information, resources, and guidance to strengthen aquaculture enterprises.
• Bridge the gap between research findings and practical implementation for sustainable growth in aquaculture.
This gathering reinforces the University of Limpopo’s commitment to advancing agricultural innovation and community development through research-driven solutions. Farmers across Limpopo are encouraged to participate and engage in shaping the future of aquaculture in the province.
