The Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (LDARD) and Potato SA have formalized a strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), reinforcing their joint commitment to sustainable growth and transformation within the province’s potato industry.

The agreement aims to strengthen support systems for farmers, enhance research and innovation, and promote inclusive participation across the potato value chain. Special focus will be given to youth, women, persons with disabilities, and emerging farmers, ensuring broader access to opportunities within the sector.

Through this collaboration, both LDARD and Potato SA seek to build a competitive and thriving potato industry that contributes to food security, job creation, and economic development in Limpopo and beyond. The partnership will facilitate training programs, technical assistance, and market access initiatives designed to empower small-scale and emerging potato producers.

The MoU aligns with Limpopo’s broader agricultural transformation agenda. It ensures that public and private sector initiatives are coordinated to maximize impact, foster innovation, and unlock the full potential of the potato sector as a driver of rural prosperity.

By combining resources and expertise, LDARD and Potato SA aim to create a more resilient and inclusive potato industry. The partnership signals a long-term commitment to supporting farmers, enhancing production efficiency, and driving sustainable economic growth in Limpopo’s agricultural landscape.
