The Agricultural Research Council (ARC) participated in the Annual Agricultural Economist Association of South Africa (AESA) Conference, held from 29 September to 01 October 2025 at River Meadows Manor in Pretoria. The conference brings together agricultural economists to discuss trends, challenges, and opportunities shaping South Africa’s agricultural economy.
As part of its involvement, the ARC hosted a side event titled Lessons from a Decade-Long Consortium of Agricultural Economists in South Africa. The session highlighted key research findings, practical applications, and collaborative efforts that have influenced agricultural policy and practice over the past ten years.
Throughout the three-day conference, ARC researchers shared insights on a wide range of topics, including economic modelling, market trends, rural development, and sustainable farming practices. Their participation reinforced the ARC’s role in supporting evidence-based decision-making and promoting innovation in South African agriculture.
The ARC’s engagement at the AESA Conference demonstrates its ongoing commitment to advancing agricultural research, strengthening collaborations, and contributing to the growth and resilience of the country’s agricultural sector.
