ISUZU Motors South Africa used its platform at NAMPO Harvest Day 2026 to spotlight the challenges facing South African farmers amid the ongoing Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) outbreak through the launch of its Farmer Solidarity Campaign.

Running until 30 May 2026, the campaign is centred around the Farmer Stories Fund, a relief initiative that will provide R250,000 worth of practical support packages to selected farmers affected by the outbreak.

Farmers are encouraged to share personal stories about how the outbreak has impacted their farms, livelihoods and day-to-day operations, while also outlining how practical assistance could help them navigate current challenges. Entries can be submitted via a dedicated WhatsApp line or through QR codes available on the campaign platform.

The initiative comes as South Africa’s agricultural sector continues to grapple with the effects of the outbreak. As of April 2026, 1,317 FMD cases had been recorded nationally, while more than 2.03 million animals had been vaccinated since February 2026, with no new cases reported in vaccinated herds.

“For many farmers, this outbreak is more than just an agricultural issue. It has become an operational and emotional challenge affecting families, businesses and entire rural communities,” said Mpho Nkhumeleni, Department Executive for CV Sales and Revenue Generation at ISUZU Motors South Africa.

“The Farmer Solidarity Campaign puts farmers and their experiences at the heart of the conversation. As a brand deeply connected to the agricultural sector, we believe support should be practical, respectful and meaningful.”

Alongside the three R50,000 relief awards, the campaign will also offer practical spot prizes, including aftersales service relief packages designed to ease operational pressures on farms.

The campaign forms part of ISUZU’s broader commitment to supporting industries and communities that depend on reliable mobility and operational continuity.

“Farmers play a vital role in keeping South Africa moving, often under extremely demanding conditions,” added Nkhumeleni. “Through this campaign, we want South Africans to hear these stories, stand alongside farming communities and recognise the resilience within the sector.”

Selected farmer stories will continue to be featured across ISUZU’s digital platforms and agricultural media partnerships throughout the campaign period.

Farmers have until 30 May 2026 to submit their entries.
