Yesterday, MEC Nakedi Kekana led a Ghanaian delegation on a comprehensive agribusiness study tour in Limpopo’s Mopani District. The delegation visited Craighead Farm and the Granor Passi Processing Factory in Tzaneen, focusing on knowledge sharing, collaboration, and showcasing advanced agribusiness and agro-processing practices.

The visit forms part of the Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development’s initiative to host a high-level Ghanaian delegation. The objective is to strengthen bilateral relations between South Africa and Ghana, promote agricultural development, and enhance food security across the continent.

The delegation included six Regional Ministers from Ghana, equivalent to South Africa’s Premiers. They engaged directly with local producers and agro-processing experts to understand Limpopo’s role as a major contributor to both national and global agricultural markets. The delegation explored best practices in production efficiency, post-harvest handling, and value addition.

MEC Kekana emphasized the importance of knowledge transfer and collaboration. She highlighted Limpopo’s strategic position in agricultural production and trade, noting that shared expertise can help Ghana advance its own agribusiness sector.

The study tour aimed to build skills, foster innovation, and encourage partnerships that could strengthen agribusiness across Africa. By showcasing successful production models and processing technologies, the tour set the stage for future joint initiatives and a continental hub for agricultural trade and development.

The engagement reflects a growing trend of cross-border cooperation in agriculture, where countries leverage each other’s expertise to drive growth, improve food security, and increase trade opportunities. Limpopo’s practical approach to agribusiness and agro-processing serves as a benchmark for emerging African markets.
