Rainbow Chicken continues to strengthen its commitment to social investment by supporting rural communities in areas where its agricultural operations are based. One such community is Mkhambathini Local Municipality, home to Cosmoore Primary School, located along Ingomankulu Road on the B7 and B8 route.

The school recently faced a major challenge after strong winds destroyed one of its classrooms, forcing multiple grades to share limited space. This placed considerable strain on both educators and learners and disrupted the overall learning environment.

Recognising the urgency of the situation, Rainbow’s agricultural team in KwaZulu-Natal stepped in to renovate the damaged classroom. The intervention restored a safe and functional learning space, allowing teaching to continue in a stable and supportive environment while reinforcing the company’s role as a community partner within rural farming regions.

As part of its broader community outreach, Rainbow also included the school in its “Rainbow Back-to-School” programme, donating school shoes to learners from Grade R to Grade 7 based on individual need.

Supporting sustainable development at grassroots level, the team further donated gardening tools to strengthen the school’s food gardening initiative. The equipment—generously provided by DTS, one of Rainbow Chicken’s trusted service partners—included a brush cutter, spades, rakes and a garden fork. These tools will assist the school in maintaining its grounds and expanding practical agricultural learning opportunities for learners.

According to Alan Reddy, Rainbow’s approach to social investment is evolving toward long-term impact:

“While we are proud to have supported Cosmoore Primary School during a time of need, our approach goes beyond a single project. We are intentionally adopting a broader and more sustainable approach to community development, focused on identifying and investing in initiatives that uplift, empower and create lasting value in the communities where we operate.”

School principal K. L. Ndlovu expressed gratitude for the timely support:

“We express our heartfelt appreciation to Rainbow Chicken for renovating our Grade 7 classroom after it was destroyed by strong winds just before the June 2025 exams. After struggling to secure assistance through formal channels, our request to Rainbow became an unexpectedly answered prayer. We are grateful for the classroom renovation, the donation of shoes and gardening tools, and for the genuine support shown to our learners and community.”

Through practical partnerships and community-focused agricultural initiatives, Rainbow Chicken continues to help build resilient rural communities—one project at a time.
