Yesterday, Lundini Village hosted a Farmers’ Information Day organised by the Department of Agriculture in partnership with the Agricultural Research Council (ARC). The event brought together local farmers to learn practical skills aimed at improving productivity and profitability on their farms.
Farmers received training on several key areas of livestock and crop management. Experts demonstrated proper animal selection techniques, helping farmers identify high-performing stock for breeding and production. Sessions on silage preparation provided guidance on preserving quality fodder, ensuring livestock nutrition throughout the year.
The programme also covered synchronisation and pregnancy diagnosis in livestock. Farmers learned modern reproductive management techniques to improve herd fertility and efficiency. These skills directly enhance farm productivity and reduce losses associated with poor breeding practices.
Branding and marketing were another focus of the day. Farmers were shown how to build a strong brand for their products, helping them access better markets and increase sales. The sessions emphasised the link between farm management, market visibility, and sustainable income.
With practical demonstrations and interactive discussions, the event created a platform for farmers to exchange experiences and challenges. Officials highlighted the department’s commitment to growing agriculture and empowering communities. The Farmers’ Information Day reinforced the importance of equipping farmers with knowledge that strengthens livelihoods and contributes to local economic growth.
The initiative reflects a broader strategy to support rural development and build capacity among farmers. By combining technical training with market-oriented advice, the programme helps farmers optimise production while expanding opportunities for income and community development.
