On October 8, MEC Vuyiswa Ramokgopa delivered a keynote address at the AGDA Annual Member & Stakeholder Engagement, urging the agricultural sector to embrace partnership, innovation, and inclusive growth. Her speech emphasized that the future of agriculture cannot be shaped by a single department or organization but requires collective action.
Ramokgopa highlighted the need for a collaborative, data-driven approach to build a resilient agricultural sector. She stressed tackling hunger and ensuring that no South African child goes to bed hungry, linking social responsibility to sector growth and sustainability.
During the event, the MEC toured the AGDA exhibition, engaging directly with farmers, innovators, and researchers. Exhibits showcased modern agri-technology, locally produced teas, and innovative solutions from the Agricultural Research Council (ARC). The displays underscored how technology and research are transforming agriculture in Gauteng.
Ramokgopa concluded by challenging delegates to move beyond discussion and take tangible steps toward transformation. She called on government, industry, and communities to work together to implement solutions that increase productivity, address food security, and support emerging farmers.
Her address reinforced the importance of collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity as drivers for a stronger and more sustainable agricultural sector in Gauteng.
