One of the standout recognitions of the evening went to Waldo Scheepers, who was named mentor of the year for his commitment to supporting new livestock farmers. The prestigious Pedigree Presidential Award was presented to Freddie Wasserfal, acknowledging his long standing impact and leadership within the sector. At the same time, Ahmed Bhamjee was recognised as emerging breeder of the year, marking his growing influence in cattle breeding. These awards highlight both experience and new talent, showing the balance needed to sustain industry growth. The herd of the year categories featured strong competition across multiple livestock types, reflecting the high standards maintained by South African breeders. Fourie Scheepers earned recognition for his Bonsmara stud, which was named meat cattle herd of the year due to its consistent performance and quality genetics. In the small stock category, Johan Swart received the award for meat and dual purpose herd of the year. The wool category was led by Johan Kotze, whose Merino herd stood out for its production and breeding excellence. These awards highlight the importance of genetic improvement and careful herd management in achieving long term success.

In the dairy and equine categories, top performers also received recognition for their contributions to production and breeding quality. Hannes Neethling and Neels Neethling of Rooikoppies Farming were named milk herd of the year, reflecting strong performance in dairy production. PJ Moller received the award for horse herd of the year, demonstrating excellence in equine breeding. In the canine category, Christopher Havenga was recognised for his dog stud, which achieved top honours. These categories show the wide scope of the awards and the importance of quality breeding across different animal industries.

Industry organisations were also acknowledged, with the SA Boerboeltelerssocieties receiving recognition for the best annual report. This award highlights the importance of transparency, communication, and organisational excellence within breed societies. In addition, 24 breed winners were named across key categories such as the annual Meat Central Bull Growth Test Class, Platinum Beef Cow and Dairy Cow categories, the Farm Media Diamond Bull category, and Genetic Dairy Cow Herds of the Year. These recognitions provide a benchmark for performance and encourage continuous improvement across the industry. They also give breeders valuable exposure and credibility within competitive markets.
